St. Boniface has given me all that I have.
And I am ready to now give back to St. Boniface as much as it has given me.
That is my pledge to you... all of you who have voted to elected me as your city councillor tonight.
St. Boniface is a dynamic and vibrant community. It represents everything that make our city special and I am honored to be able to help shape its future.
I promise to work hard to proudly represent all the people and neighbourhoods of St. Boniface. I will work to restore your confidence in municipal politics and will build bridges between all stakeholders within our community.
I promise to be a councillor who leads from the ground up, who is your neighbour, who comes from your community and works for your community… I will be a councillor that you will grow to trust, and in turn, I will restore your confidence in the city that you depend on critical public services.
Thank you to all my supporters, donors and volunteers. What an amazing team we have. From the fantastic Burma-Shaves, to our incredible launch on Provencher Bridge, to our groups of canvassers and volunteers on the phones and running the office, the support has been amazing but also very humbling. I am sincerely touched by everyone’s generosity. Together, we knocked on thousands of doors and delivered over 62,000 pieces of literature throughout St. Boniface! Some of you were new to politics and some of you have been involved for a long time. Some of you weren’t even able to vote but were there beside me every step of the way. Merci, merci merci.
As long as I am at City Hall, my doors will be open to all of you, residents, business leaders and community stakeholders.
I would like to mention a few key volunteers who, without their help and devotion, we would not have been able to reach victory tonight. Thank you sincerely, Ryan Palmquist, my campaign chair and Dee Dee Budgell, my official agent. Ben Brisebois our volunteer coordinator. Julien Allard for heading up fundraising and Sarah Mahr and Linda Wilson who came in the nic of time when they were needed and many others? And to everyone on my election committee team. Also, thank you to Bob Gooding who spent more time with me at the door than any other volunteer on the campaign.
All of you have been the best team anybody could ever hope for. And we are all family now. No matter what you do or where you go from now, I will carry the memory of this victory with me for a lifetime because without all of you, none of this would have been possible.
Last but not least, I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help and support from my amazing wife Joelle. She was making life, writing speeches and speaking notes, all while keeping the candidate calm throughout the entire campaign. Together, we make a great team Joelle! St. Boniface couldn’t ask for a better First Lady!
And thats what happens when the first lady writes the speech.
Even my 5 year old daughter came campaigning with me. It’s never too late to teach our kids about politics. (SMILE) I know it wasn’t always easy to be apart Camille, but I promise to take you to Kidzone in the next little while to make up for being away from you so much. Te quiero mucho mi nina.
Merci à tous d'être venue ce soir and thank you all for being here tonight. Together, we will build an even better St. Boniface!
